All parents and players should be aware of the following policies of AC CALDO.
1. Field Practice Locations: AC CALDO does not own any soccer fields. We are a group assembled from players of towns within the Northwest District and neighboring towns. Our players come from as far North as Winsted / Litchfield, as far South as Redding, Bethel, and Naugatuck, as far West as New Fairfield and Danbury, as far East as Chesire. AC Caldo makes its best efforts to arrange field usage agreements with local towns that are centrally located to this region of players that we service. Typically our practice fields have been assigned in the Danbury to Watertown region. More recently we have arranged for larger time blocks at Immaculate High School in Danbury, the Cercemaggorie Italian Club in Watertown, and Pomperaug High School in Southbury. In the winter we typically arrange practices at the Canterbury Field house and the Portuguese club in Danbury. We contiue to arrange supplimentary agreements for field use in Middlebury, Southbury, Brookfield, and New Fairfield. AC CALDO assigns the final practice days of the week and times slots based on the facility restrictions and the total assigment needs of the club. Finally, all players are encouraged to develop their own individual skills and endurance at home through juggling and running on days of non-practice.
2. Commitment: It is expected that all players make every attempt to attend every practice, game, and tournament. We do understand that school work and major family functions will impact the players ability to make every practice. The player should do his best to plan ahead and arrange his personal schedule accordingly. When a player is going to miss a practice or game, he/she should notify the team manager in advance. U11/U12 players who also play with their town team must make AC CALDO their priority. U11/12 Players are asked to agree to the [Caldo Commitment Agreement] prior to participating. U13 - U19 Players are not permitted to play with their town team. Lack of commitment may be reflected in a players playing time as determined by the coach. Lack of commitment can lead to dismisal from the team. All players who elect to participate in the AC Caldo program are requested to commit to the full Fall/Winter/Spring seasonal year for league play teams. We have learned that players who opt out of the winter program fall behind and as a result the team unit suffers. A player that does drop out for the winter season and desires to play again in the spring, may be allowed to do so, however it will be at the descretion of the Coach / Club to re-offer that position if requested and available. If the club has been able to find an acceptable replacement, the club has the right to deny the player a returning roster position. Annual participation is required for U9 - U19 teams with league play. Practice only options are also available for individual seasons. Coaches will generally show some flexibility towards multi-sport players during the winter so long as only a few players are effected. Players must show a certain level of commitment to remain involved.
3. Development Teams: The U9/10 development program is focused solely on player skill development. The program has now been expanded to include league play as well in the Fall/Spring in the NWD league. At this age group we are not focused on wins/losses. Our objective is to further enhance the core fundamentals of soccer so as to help the young player have a stronger base going forward with confidence. For the U9/10 player, options exist for a player to register individually per season for practice only or an annual program for those interested in league play as well. The U11/12 Development program continues to develop players fundamental skills. We view our role as being a place where the more committed soccer athletes can gain additional higher end training from qualified coaches so as to be more prepared for possible participation in the premier age groups begining at U13. Our goal is to bring the stronger players together in one location within the Northwest District amd develop them without bias of parent coaching and town politics. It takes a substantial commitment from the supporting parents to enable effective participation. We recognize families multitask everyday with multiple siblings and multiple activities. We believe the family comes first. Progression to a higher more competitive level of soccer requires commitment, however enjoyment of the game and self respect do not need to be sacrificed to achieve success.
4. Dual Rostering: The CT state governing body of soccer, CJSA, allows for dual rostering of players between local town teams playing in the NWD league and premier teams playing in the CJSA premier league. The CJSA Northwest district however has an additional policy to only allow 5 players (or 1/3 of the roster) of a town team at the U12 age and older to be double rostered with a NWD town team and a CJSA premier league team. U9 and U10 players opting to participate on an AC CALDO team that is registered to play in the NWD league my not double roster with a town team as they would then be participating on 2 teams in the same league. AC Caldo's policy is that players are permitted to be dual rostered with their town teams and their AC Caldo development team so long as the State and NWD allow it. AC Caldo does not allow players to be dual rostered for U13 age groups and older.
5. Behavior / Respect: All players and parents are requested to treat, teamates, coaches, managers, referees, and oppponents with respect. Positive, supportive commitments are encourged. Soccer is a team sport. Players need to support each other. Disrespectful, condecending, and negative comments are to be discouraged. Parents are reminded to withhold their potential disagreements with referee's and coaches decisions at games. Soccer is a game of passion. For the good of the game and all players we ask that parents control their possible negative emotional reaction to situations they disagree. Positive reinforncement is enouraged. Selective sideline coaching to ones son/daughter is to be discouraged. Please let the coach do this for us ! Reptitive poor behavior of parents and players can result in player dismisal. Parents that have issues / concerns at times should direct their comments in a supportive way to the team manager in the following day after letting first reaction emotional responses to be released.
6. Playing Time: AC Caldo is a premier soccer club. Playing time and event participation are rewarded to those players the coach views as performing best. All players should recognize that playing time and event participation on any given day could be 0 - 100 %. Players desiring more playing time should discuss their desires proactively with the coach and work hard at practices. Ultimately the players need to demonstrate progress to the coach to earn more playing time. During competitive close matches it is typical to see weaker players receiving less playing time and possibly none at all. During less competitive games it is typical that a coach will likely offer more time to his players that normally receive less playing time so they can develop on the field. Parents who disagree with their son/daughters playing time should encourage their son/daughter to talk to the coach. Non-productive complaining typically results in less playing time.
7. Payment: AC Caldo registration is solely offered online. Online payment data is protected through the use of Secure Socket Layer (SSL) encryption certificates. Our online payment software application is serviced by Thriva, a division of the ActiveNetworks.com. Registrants have two payment options. 1) Pay in full for the entire Fall / Winter / Spring seasonal year which offers a 5% discount over the published fees, 2) a payment plan whereby payments are made on a posted scheduled. In both cases payments are charged to the registrants credit card. Registrants who select the payment plan will have their credit card automatically charged on times specified following the initial online registration. No subsequent action is required by the registrant. Registrants should enter credit card #'s that have expiration dates of more than 7 months when they initially register. Team managers are offered a discount of 50% as compensation for their commitment and time to organize and manage the team. All payments are non-refundable. Commiments are made to players for roster positions and others are denied. If a player quits or becomes injured, it is generally not possible to replace that player. Therefore the cost burden remains and is not refundable.
8. Registration Fee: The Registration fee is designed to cover the entire cost of player participation. The fee covers the cost of coaching, facilities usage, league fees, tournament fees, referees, uniforms, etc. Caldo's uniform policy is to issue a uniform set to each player when they first enter the program and then provide additional uniforms on subsequent years on an as needed basis when a player grows out of his exisiting uniform. Therefore uniforms are not issued every season to every player. New socks are issued each year to all players. The standard uniform sets are:
A. U9 & U10 players: Blue/White Uniform & socks.
B. U11/12 players: Blue/White uniform and Red/Blue Uniform and socks.
C. U13 and older: Blue/White Uniform, Red/Blue Uniform, socks, warm-up, and bag.
9. Disclaimer:The parent or guardian of the registrant, a minor, agree that I and the registrant will abide by the rules and policies of The United States Soccer Federation (hereinafter “USSF”), United States Youth Soccer (hereinafter “USYS”), CT Jr. Soccer (hereinafter CJSA), The Northwest District (hereinafter “NWD”), AC Caldo (hereinafter “the club”), their affiliated organizations and sponsors. Recognizing the possibility of injury associated with soccer, and in consideration for USYS NWD and the club accepting the forenamed registrant for participation in their programs, I hereby release, discharge, indemnify, and/or otherwise hold harmless, USYS, NWD, the club, their associated personnel, sponsors and employees, including, but not limited to coaches, assistants, directors, property and facility owners, against any claim, by or on behalf of, the registrant as a result of the registrant’s participation associated with the same and/or being transported to or from said programs, which transportation I hereby expressly authorize.
10. Administration: AC Caldo is administered through direction of two Club Directors, Scott Schaake and Joe Berlenbach. Also key policies are established through the participation of Chico Barata, CT's most experienced soccer coach, and Roe Collins, our coaching director and administrator of the development program. AC Caldo is a member club of the Northwest district and as such the club directors participate in the Northwest Districts monthly meetings to help provide direction to youth soccer in the region.
11. Referees: Referees for AC CALDO games are assigned through the AC CALDO Certified Referee assignor. All Caldo Referees must submit their Name, Address, Email, Home Phone #, Cell Phone #, Address, Birth Date, and Social Secutiry Number to Joe Berlenbach. Referees will be paid at half time with a CALDO LLC check by the team manager. All referees will be sent year end 1099's.
12. Injuries: Injuries that require medical attention should be reported to the CJSA. When an injury ocurrs, an AC Caldo Director should be informed and the Caldo Director will complete the "Notification of Injury" form and it will be submitted to the CJSA. The purpose of this initial form is to document that an injury has occurred. It should be filed with the first 1-2 days of the date of the injury. CJSA provides secondary medical insurance to assist families with recovery of out of pocket expenses (deductibles) that they are required to pay after their primary insurance has paid its portion. The CJSA insurance policy is by Pullen Insurance and has a $100 deductible. All claims must be filed with the families primary insurance carrier. The form to submit a claim to the CJSA insurance company can be found at www.cjsa.org, clik on CJSA forms on the top menu, then scroll down to the insurance forms and download the "Accident Claim Form". Note that this form should be completed and submitted within 30 days of the date of the accident. All insurance receipts must be available when submitting to the CJSA insurance. AC Caldo does not reimburse players for costs of injuries and does not refund registration fees for lack of participation due to injuries. Our non-reimbursement policy is due to the fact that an injured player has been awarded a roster position and quality replacement players are not easily found mid-season. It is unfortunate when a player has a sustained injury. In order for AC CALDO to maintain its fee structure, we can not be responsible for the expense of players injuries.
